's check your forecast. for that we turn to meteorologist jennifer hill who's in for rob this morning. good morning, jennifer. >> good morning. it's a little cool outside. we had that breeze really picking up yesterday but a big warmup is on the way. a bit of low clouds around this morning, maybe a little fog but we'll see that burning off. temperatures in the 50s as we look at 8:00 a.m. as we head toward noon we'll all be enjoying quite a bit of sunshine and warm us up to 70 in concord, 71 in livermore, 67 in san jose, 62 at noon. so is the first day of fall that comes this evening at 8:00, it's going to feel more like summer as we head toward the end of the week. 69 degrees at 4:00 in fremont, 73 in livermore and we're looking at 68 degrees. so with the seven-day forecast here, a little cool today. we're forecasting temperatures right in the mid-70s as we look at the east bay. by the time we hit the weekend, forecast highs making it back into the 90s for the first weekend of fall. it kind of seems counter intuitive, doesn't it, scott. >> it does. great way to start fall. >>> mike joining

to touch on base with what was said, especially some of the things that jennifer johnson said, who is my attorney. some of the things that were sitting here tonight are some of the things that i have received. the money threatening to be cut because of the money or whatever. nearby had not had access, -- if i had not had access, i would not be standing here today. i was diagnosed as a schizophrenic, and with long- term treatment, i was able to make some drastic changes in my life. i am able to obtain and hold a job at this point. there have been times where i did not have a clue where to get treatment at because i did not know where it was available, and that is what is happening now. people do not know where to get it. if it had not been for the health corp., i would truly be shepherded into the system -- if it had not been for the health court. those places and things are needed, desperately, because if i had not been able to go to one to deal with both my addictions, the mental health and my drug addiction, that i do not know where i would be. i would probably be in prison somewhere.

cannon. straight up 5:00. just turned 5:01. we want to check in with jennifer hill who is in for rob this morning. >> it's breezy outside and cool outside for the first day of fall. we're forecasting temperatures only in the 50s at the 8:00 a.m. hour. not seeing a lot of clouds around. if you're heading out for lunch it will warm up to the 70s and 80s. 71 in fairfield, only 62 in san francisco. coming up, a warm weekend is in the forecast. >> all right, jen, we'll look for that. also those breezy conditions could mean you could get caught in a gust crossing over the water. we're watching 101 heading out of san jose into morgan hill at bailey avenue. report of an accident maybe still in lanes. no major slowing. most folks heading north into san jose starting about now. the roadways are moving nicely. there are your speeds. we have that construction zone marked on 101 with that repaving project that's going on but it sounds like most of the major construction is coming to an end so all of those spots should be picked up. you may still have a closure, the off-ramp over at oakland road.

. >>> and up next, jennifer hager, nascar driver? who was it like to fly around n rtrack at 134 ming aw siguo shgos ng to show us rig after this. oh there's tons. french presses, expresso tampers, filters. it can get really complicated. not nearly as complicated as shipping it, though. i mean shipping is a hassle. not with priority mail flat rate boxes from the postal service. if it fits it ships anywhere in the country for a low flat rate. that is easy. best news i've heard all day! i'm soooo amped! i mean not amped. excited. well, sort of amped. really kind of in between. have you ever thought about decaf? do you think that would help? yeah. priority mail flat rate box shipping starts at $4.95, only from the postal service. a simpler way to ship. sometimes i would get rewards, sometimes i wouldn't. this one card i had -- there were all these rules. rules and restrictions. oh, and limits. [ scoffs ] forget about it. but i love this card. bankamericard cash rewards credit card. 1% cash back on everything i buy. period. no limit to the amount of cash back i can get. no hoops to jump thr

strategy, jennifer griffin is live in washington on this, bob woodward wrote the book, what are the most explosive revelations, now, public, jennifer? >> reporter: you have heard the president talk about his desire for a team of rivals, but, this takes rivalry and in fighting to a new level and there's an under lying impression, bill, that the president thinks the pentagon and his generals are trying to get him to expand the war in afghanistan. allah vietn via vietnam and, robert gates, in 2010, we will not have a conversation about how to do more, we will not want to hear we're doing fine, mr. president, but, we would be better if we do more, the book says and we will not have a conversation about how to change the mission, unless we are talking about how to draw down faster than anticipated in 2011. and, the president according to woodward gets frustrated when he keeps getting presented plans to expand the war when all he is looking for, in his own words, is an exit strategy, bill. bill: jennifer, it is clear in the book, based on the excerpts, it is clear, i should say, that this is a

a long discussion before the program started. during that conversation, jennifer, dave and judy convince me that we should create a group like mothers against drunk driving. the idea would be a national advocacy group devoted to ending distracted driving. that was born in the studios of cnn. during the year since, jennifer, dave, judy and other members have travelled the country doing important and inspiring work, putting a human face on a terrible problem. at last year's summit, we learned that distracted driving is an epidemic. it is an epidemic because everyone has a cell phone, and everyone thinks they can use it while driving. you all know this. if i asked for a show of hands -- which i am not going to do [laughter] -- i know that everyone of you has a self done. and i also know that everyone has used it while driving. do not deny it. we are hooked on it. that is why it is an epidemic. there is no bigger distraction than people on a cell phone or people texting and driving. there is not. you cannot drive safely doing that. i want to say a special word of thanks to the chief of polic

. and explaining, i can't lose the whole democratic party. jennifer given is live at the pentagon. jennifer apparently the white house wants us to believe that they are happy with this book, why is that? >> reporter: in a way they are happy, because what comes out of this, look at the timing of when it was released, it's released before the midterm elections, have you a president with a very unpopular war, his democratic base doesn't want us to be in afghanistan, so they have this book being leaked out with private conversations between his national security team and him where he's in fact saying that i don't really believe in the troop surge that he signed off on sending 30,000 troops over there in the last year. that he is serious about an exit strategy, he wants them out by july 2011. this all plays into political hands because in essence it's saying that, yes i went along with my generals, along with the pentagon, i sent the 30,000 troops but i want them out almost as soon as they've unpacked. megyn: yet some of the quotes from his generals and his national security team in this thing a
